Space Systems Design Studio is a research-focused organization based at the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Cornell University. The studio is dedicated to exploring innovative ways to harness spacecraft physics to enhance space capabilities. One of its primary areas of research is the development of Chip Satellites, which utilize flux pinning chip technology. The studio is also working on the design of Lunar CubeSat, a satellite that uses eddy-current actuation and control moment gyroscope for navigation. Additionally, the team is investigating the application of machine learning systems for optical navigation and generalized orbit rendezvous signals of opportunity navigation. The studio is committed to advancing autonomous navigation, particularly in the context of relativistic spacecraft.
